| W3AF’s Home Page VW Bus Amateur Radio Communications Van I received my first radio amateur license in 1967 as WB4IOA. Upon moving to Pennsylvania, I changed that to W3IOA, and then about a year later to W3AF when I upgraded to Extra. I presently live in Virginia Beach, VA, near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay I am a computer database consultant professionally (mostly retired), and I’m also a licensed private pilot (Commercial/Instruments/SMEL). I also hold a USCG 100 Ton Masters License. I operate on HF with an ICOM 7610. Since we now have a standalone house, this feeds K4HEX Hex Beam at 45 feet or a GAP Challenger Vertical. Most of my hamming time is spent either on 17 Meters or on PSK31 on almost any band. I hunt just enough DX that you may find me anywhere. I also have a VW Bus (Westfalia Camper) that I use as a Radio Amateur Communications Van, where I run an ICOM ID-5100 for FM/DSTAR. It is complete with an auxilary battery, a PowerPole distribution panel, inverter and pushup |
